A personal, documented approach

Terrain & Traces grew from a simple conviction: the beaches and villages of Normandy take on another dimension when they are connected to documents, a chronology and a specific human story.

I prepare private journeys in English or French. They may follow a relative’s story, the documented movement of a unit or a particular question. The work begins before the visit: listening, gathering what is already available, consulting useful sources and building a coherent route.

On the ground, I favour a few strong sequences over a long list of stops. Time spent in the landscape, attention to distance and a clear explanation of the sources make it possible to understand without oversimplifying.

Passing the story on matters as much as the visit itself. Depending on the project, maps, a timeline and references can be gathered into something the family can keep and share.
